Responsibilities
- Appropriately prescribes pharmaceuticals according to age, chronic medical conditions, allergies, drug interactions, and duration of therapy.
- Performs routine and specialty physical exams and documents specific age-related preventative health screenings.
- Educates and counsels patients to promote wellness.
- Addresses and provides resources for health risk behaviors.
- Interprets diagnostic tests for patients and provides appropriate referrals or consultations.
- Performs technical and surgical procedures for patients as necessary.
- Completes patient discharge planning and education; writes appropriate orders and prescriptions.
- Provides patient education and counseling to promote wellness.
- Evaluates patient’s progress toward attaining expected outcomes.
- Evaluates effectiveness of interventions in relation to outcomes.
- Documents patient’s response to interventions.
- Upholds the professional code of ethics.
- Keeps all licenses/certifications up to date (including ACLS and PALS, if applicable).
- Provides agreed upon coverage to care for patients in the appropriate settings (ex. ambulatory office and/or hospital) during business hours and evenings/weekends, as mutually agreed upon and per medical staff bylaws.
Qualifications
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Master Degree Nurse Practitioner
- NP - CSR (if Required By Defined Job Duties)
Required: No experience necessary. Preferred: Three (3) years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner in specific area of practice.
