Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice RN working in collaboration with physicians to deliver health care services to meet the specialized physiologic and psychological needs of patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions. The NP delivers health care services to a population of patients within their scope of certification and education.
About the Role
Singing River Health System is dedicated to improving health and saving lives in the community. The Nurse Practitioner role involves moderate physical activity, including sitting and moving around the office and facility, and traveling within the SRHS service area. The position requires a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and lifting, with occasional pushing and pulling. The role demands attention to detail, multitasking, and maintaining a professional demeanor under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with physicians to provide comprehensive health care services to patients with complex conditions.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients within the scope of practice and certification.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on patient needs and medical guidelines.
- Provide ongoing patient education and support.
- Document patient encounters and treatments accurately and timely.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases and develop care plans.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
- Supervise and mentor less experienced healthcare professionals as needed.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Mississippi State Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current certifications in Acute Care, Family Medicine, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Geriatric Nurse Practitioner.
- BLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification through ANCC if working in Psychiatric Services.
- BLS and ACLS certifications if working in Surgical Services.
- CPNP certification if working in Pediatrics.
- De-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation.
- One year of advanced nursing experience preferred, with two years in Psychiatric Services required.
- Previous experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in inpatient and outpatient settings preferred.
