About the Role

Assists in the provision of patient care including patient evaluations and health screenings. Supports the Medical Director by performing intake, discharge, and administrative procedures while communicating effectively with the nursing staff, counselors, and Program Director.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examination of all patients upon admission, including annual physical examinations and health examinations.
  • Review admissions-related laboratory results with patients.
  • Conduct examinations consistent with applicable state rules and regulations for medically-monitored treatment programs/facilities.
  • Issue patient medication change orders and verbal orders as permitted by state rules and regulations.
  • Complete readmit physical examinations and annual physical examinations of all patients.
  • Be available to staff for emergency management of patient care.
  • Refer patients to primary care providers for medical conditions other than narcotic addiction.
  • Assist with training of nursing staff.
  • Ensure nursing staff properly corrects changes in medication dosage via verbal or written orders.
  • Provide reports as requested.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings with counselors or document alternatives in the patient record.
  • Label medication bottles in the absence of the Pharmacist.
  • Review and sign all appropriate clinical documentation forms.

Requirements

  • Current and active state license as a Nurse Practitioner in the state where the clinic is located.
  • Current and active DEA license schedule II, III with the ability to prescribe buprenorphine (NM positions require DEA with 2, 2N, 3, 4, & 5 scheduling).
  • Active Medicaid and Medicare credential.
  • FL positions only: Must have a Psychiatric Certification.
  • Two years of experience in the field of Substance Abuse.

Skills

  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Suite.
  • Preferred: 1 year of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) experience.
