Nurse Practitioner - Physician Assistant - Wound Care Clinic - FT

About the Role

This role operates within a collaborative model, working alongside residents, fellows, attendings, and staff to provide care for outpatient clinic patients. Under the supervision of the Medical Director or an approved staff physician, and in association with Patient Care Coordinators (PCCs), staff nurses, and discharge coordinators, this position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating medical and nursing care. Key responsibilities include primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching residents and medical students, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes approved medical practices in the delivery of all patient care.
• Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
• Maintains an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care outcomes, and may develop research methodology.
• Provides education experiences to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and the community.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, explanation of services, and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Able to work a Monday - Thursday clinic schedule.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Required: Master’s degree in nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine/Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program.
• Certifications:
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice, Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association, Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice.
  • For Physician Assistants: License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice, NCCPA Certified, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association, Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice.

• Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between facilities.
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.

Physical Demands

This role requires medium work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, reach, and have manual dexterity. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues is routine, with potential occupational risk for communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
