Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant, Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology
The College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP).
About the role
The APP will provide comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients of the Division of Surgical Oncology. They will interact with a large multi-disciplinary team including surgeons, physicians, pharmacists, dietitians, nurse coordinators, nurses, trainees, and consulting services.
Responsibilities
- Take patient history, conduct physical examinations, and record data in the patient's record.
- Write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries.
- Prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.
- Explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
- Train new personnel.
- Participate in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, physician assistant students, nurse practitioner students, and pharmacy students in techniques and procedures unique to the clinical setting.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Nurse Practitioner: Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program, Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority, Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty, Three (3) years nursing experience.
- Physician Assistant: Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program, Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority, Two (2) years of clinical experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills and excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, and health care workers.
Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner: Graduate from an ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Physician Assistant: Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
