Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Cardiac Step-Down Unit - Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center

About the role

The Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to join the team on the 12‑bed Cardiac Step‑Down Unit. The APP will work collaboratively with physicians, fellow APPs, and the multidisciplinary care team to assess, manage, and coordinate care for acutely ill cardiac patients.

Responsibilities

• Assess, manage, and coordinate care for acutely ill cardiac patients
• Participate in medical consultation, patient assessments, procedures, and care planning
• Specialize in the management of complex cardiac conditions
• Recommend diagnostic testing
• Initiate appropriate treatment strategies in collaboration with the attending team

Qualifications

• Master’s degree as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant from an accredited program
• NP or PA certification and New Jersey license required
• DEA and CDS required
• ACLS and BLS required
• Minimum of 2‑3 years of critical care or cardiology experience
• Excellent communication and computer skills
• Strong work ethic, team player able to work independently

Skills

• Procedural experience including central and arterial line placement
• Background in critical care or step‑down environments
• Point‑of‑care ultrasound experience preferred
