Nurse Practitioner (Part-Time/Regular)

About the role

The University of Maryland, Baltimore, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide senior-level leadership for clinical training operations within the Maryland Abortion and Reproductive Clinical Health (MARCH) Program. This position will oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of clinical curriculum, simulation-based education, trainee clinical experiences, and training site readiness to support a statewide training program.

Responsibilities

• Oversee clinical simulation activities
• Support trainee-to-site matching
• Monitor training quality and outcomes
• Provide guidance to clinical training sites
• Serve as the primary clinical escalation point for site-based issues
• Oversee clinical research projects or clinical trials and assigned staff to ensure compliance with study protocols and overall clinical objectives
• Support research by developing clinical research questions, conducting and participating in research projects or clinical trials, and disseminating and incorporating findings into practice
• Oversee study and research related documentation development and distribution
• Develop, recommend, modify, and implement policies and procedures and/or methods of clinical research to meet changing needs and requirements and enforce standards
• Effectively execute clinical elements of research protocol conduct based on policies and procedures
• Identify protocol or patient problems, inform investigators of problems, and resolve problems by making protocol modifications or adjustments to care plans
• Perform Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) protocol development and ensure compliance of research operations with protocols with all relevant local, federal, and state regulatory and institutional policies
• Identify and prepare research grants, publications in medical and nursing literature, study materials, brochures, and correspondence
• Serve as a clinical training and curriculum lead for a statewide abortion and reproductive health training program, providing advanced clinical, educational, operational, and research expertise to support curriculum development, simulation-based training, clinical site readiness, APC mentorship, program evaluation, and dissemination of training outcomes
• Function as a dedicated clinical link between program leadership, curriculum teams, project management staff, clinical training sites, faculty, preceptors, and trainees to support program growth, quality, and alignment with grant goals and evaluation metrics
• Create a cohesive work team that works collaboratively to achieve research goals
• Oversee the recruitment, performance, and scheduling of team members and continually review strengths and weaknesses of staff to maintain a well-trained, highly involved, and motivated team
• Instruct and train research and nursing staff in scientific and procedural aspects of studies including standards of care, informed consent procedures, and documentation procedures
• Coordinate financial aspects of research project or clinical trial implementation from protocol feasibility through to study termination
• Establish, maintain, and improve lines of communication between members of the research team
• Foster a cooperative relationship between the members of the research team and support staff by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participation in team problem-solving methods
• Facilitate collaboration with the research team at the University

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master's in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing
• Experience: Current national certification from AANPNCB or other national certifying body (requires 18 months under a NP mentor before becoming certified) is required
• Certification/Licensure: Current Maryland license in good standing issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing to practice as a nurse practitioner or appropriate federal district licensure where research is conducted. Licensed with specific patient population and/or specialty area of research is required
• Other: May require training related to occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials and/or ionizing radiation

Pay

$63,500 - $70,500 per year at 50% FTE
