Pediatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

About the role

Provides acute care services at La Rabida Children’s Hospital’s outpatient walk-in clinic. Collaborates with physicians to develop and update collaborative agreements.

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced pediatric care, including acute and primary care, health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management.
• Assesses patient and family needs using medical screening exams, history and physicals, and other appropriate evaluations.
• Develops and documents individualized plans of care.
• Uses advanced clinical judgment to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. Monitors outcomes and adjusts treatment plans as needed.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to develop coordinated treatment plans. Communicates care plans with patients, families, and other providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Provides patient and family education, identifies learning needs, and evaluates understanding. Assists staff in delivering education.
• Serves as a clinical resource on pediatric practice and disease management within the organization and the community.
• Participates in relevant professional organizations to maintain current practice and contribute to the field.

Requirements

• Education: M.S Degree; training as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
• Licensure: Current Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN), PALS certified
• Experience: 3 years or more experience

Qualifications

• Language: Bi-lingual Spanish Preferred
• Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated knowledge and expertise in pediatrics. Active membership in appropriate professional organizations; Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
• Other: PALS and CPR required: Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted.
