Position Responsibilities

The APP will be expected to deliver excellent care, preform and interpret diagnostic testing (X-rays, advanced imaging, labs), perform injections, and prescribe, dispense, or deliver medications under a collaborative practice agreement.

Show a willingness to learn, collaborate with a team, and provide cross coverage for the team when needed.

Supervise the care delivered to patients. Perform /order medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures, Prescribe, dispense, and/or deliver medications under a collaborative practice agreement.

Consult/collaborate with other care team members. Use judgment to apply/adopt information within total clinical picture to address health issues while influencing others to adopt best practices.

Complete patient medical records, reports, and forms to record treatment for EMR and billing purposes. Improve quality of care by performing chart reviews and participating on performance improvement committees.

Provide health education to patients and medical education to health professions students and residents. Participate in ongoing research and professional development of self and other staff.

Establish and maintain procedures and systems to ensure staff compliance with policies and standards of care. Initiate corrective action as needed.

The position may require travel to assist in surgery at all UI Campuses including: Medical Center North Liberty, Medical Center Downtown, and Main Campus University.

Experience Requirements

2 or more years of experience working as an advanced practice provider is required.

Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of orthopedic patient care is highly desired.

Experience working in an orthopedic setting.

Education Requirements

A Master's degree is required. A Master's degree or DNP in Nursing is preferred. If Master's degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.

Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.

Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
