Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent follow-up visits for patients with chronic pain conditions
  • Participate in new patient consultations in collaboration with supervising physicians
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in coordination with the care team
  • Prescribe and manage medications, including controlled substances, in compliance with CDC and state guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Monitor patient progress, treatment effectiveness, and adjust care plans as needed
  • Provide patient education on pain management strategies, medication safety, and lifestyle modifications
  • Collaborate closely with interventional pain physicians
  • Career Development
  • Coordinate care with social workers to support patients’ psychosocial and behavioral health needs

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Master's Degree required.
  • Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure.
  • Certification of Physician Associate/Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required for PA's.
  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (e.g., FNP, AGNP).
  • Experience in pain management, primary care, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary or integrated care settings.
  • Prior experience in pain management, musculoskeletal care, primary care, or related field preferred.
