About the role
MaineHealth Gynecology Cancer Care Scarborough is seeking a full-time Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate to join their expanding Gynecologic Oncology Division.
Responsibilities
- Obtains complete medical history and performs a complete physical exam on patients if indicated.
- Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic approach/procedures as needed.
- Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
- Administers medications and discusses alternative treatments according to physician direction.
- Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
- Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Traits patient telephone calls, evaluates patient problems.
- Documents patient information and care in medical record.
- Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Provides patient education.
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
Requirements
- Successful completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Acute Care certification preferred; successful candidate may obtain within 1-2 years of employment.
- Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure.
- Minimum five (5) years of professional nursing experience.
- Two-three years (2-3) of APP Oncology experience strongly preferred; one year (1) or APP experience required.
- OCN or AOCN (Oncology Certification) within 1 year of employment.
- RNFA (First assist in OR credential) preferred; successful candidate may obtain within 1-2 years of employment.
- Current BLS certification.
Qualifications
