About the role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated team in providing comprehensive care to children and adolescents with mental health and substance use conditions. This role collaborates closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure our patients receive the highest quality of care.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient history and perform assessments using interview, observation, and examination
  • Formulate a diagnosis and develop and implement treatment plans including prescribing medication
  • Coordinate with additional healthcare providers to provide outstanding care
  • Maintain an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care outcomes
  • Develop working relationships with physicians and colleagues
  • Provide education experiences to patient families, staff, and other health professionals
  • Monitor changes in patients with persistent mental illness
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited masters or doctorate program specializing in psychiatric nurse practitioner
  • 2 years’ related psychiatry working experience with children/adolescents
  • Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice
  • Current board certification as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) with Child/Adolescent Training
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current or eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing
  • Current or eligible for Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Registration/Licensure

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) specific to role
  • Reliable transportation including the ability to travel throughout and between facilities
  • Competency documenting services using an electronic medical records system
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours (weekends/holidays/nights/call)

Skills

  • Utilizes the approved medical practices process in the delivery of all patient care
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas
  • Completes initial consultations, formulates an initial diagnosis and treatment plan for individuals with mental health disorders; and provide psychopharmacology evaluations and treatments
  • Monitors changes of patients with persistent mental illness
  • Initiates and completes all relevant documentation within organizational time frames
  • Maintains an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care outcomes
  • Develops working relationship with physicians and colleagues
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Schedule

This role typically works a standard 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and evening shifts as needed.
