This role is an integral part of the care delivery system, working to provide a healing environment by placing patients first. The incumbent provides specialty and critical care healthcare services primarily in an inpatient setting for acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations, adhering to applicable scope and standards of practice, organizational policies, values, and mission within the CRNP scope of practice. This position is utilized in areas requiring 24/7 coverage, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive, evidence-based patient care for acute patients within an inpatient setting, including conducting daily rounds, performing advanced medical history and physical assessments, formulating and implementing patient-centered treatment plans, interpreting diagnostic test results, and facilitating safe and effective discharge planning. (20%)
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies to determine patient treatment plans and establish medical diagnoses within the scope of practice.
- Collaborates proactively with the attending physician and interdisciplinary team to develop and refine patient care plans. Seeks physician consultation and guidance for clinical decisions extending beyond the CRNP scope of practice or knowledge base to ensure optimal patient safety and outcomes. (15%)
- Institutes emergency measures, treatment, and appropriate stabilization for acute patient situations, such as cardiac arrest, hemorrhage, or shock. (15%)
- Ensures timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to support medical coding, billing, and regulatory compliance for inpatient care of acute and chronic conditions. (10%)
- Facilitates seamless communication and coordination of patient care activities with patients, families, community health services, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and an optimal patient experience.
- Assesses learning needs of patients and families, delivering culturally sensitive and age-appropriate education regarding conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and active participation in recovery. (10%)
- Communicates effectively with the attending physician regarding the plan of care, involving them in clinical decision-making for issues outside the Nurse Practitioner's knowledge or scope of practice. (10%)
- Maintains mandatory professional continuing education and actively participates in patient safety, quality improvement processes, and patient engagement initiatives. (10%)
- Performs hospital rounds, accurately executes physician orders, and maintains professional practice consistent with organizational mission statements and specialty-specific privileges. (10%)
- Performs all other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
- MSN from a State Board of Nursing-approved Master's Program.
- National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through an accredited association.
- State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the practicing state.
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies (for PA roles).
- Current PA Physician Assistant License; PA-C or board eligible with ongoing successful recertification (NCCPA) as a PA-C.
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Licensure within 90 days of hire.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- ACLS certification.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Prescriptive Authority from the practicing state within 60 days of hire.
- Four to ten years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Emergency or Critical Care settings.
Schedule
- Rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage.
