About the role
Olivia Hospital & Clinic, part of HealthPartners, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Medicine team in a Casual/On-Call capacity. HealthPartners is a large health care organization spanning Minnesota and western Wisconsin, including a multi-specialty group practice serving over 1.2 million patients. This role supports the Olivia Hospital & Clinic Emergency Medicine Department, offering the opportunity to impact patient care daily within a supportive and mission-driven team.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients to determine physical and emotional needs.
- Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
- Order appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
- Perform complete physical exams and record findings.
- Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
- Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
- Prescribe and administer medications and injections according to physician directions.
- Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Post tests and examination results.
- Perform procedures approved within scope of practice and as instructed by physician.
- Delegate care and make appropriate referrals to specialties.
- Respect physical privacy of patients.
- Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention; provide patient education.
- Instruct patients regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Establish patient-specific goals consistent with the overall plan of care.
- Network with health team members to provide continuity of care.
- Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Communicate changes in client status with provider and/or family members.
- Modify, implement, and evaluate individualized teaching plans to restore, maintain, or promote health.
- Collaborate with other health team members in intra/inter-departmental issue recognition and resolution.
- Provide pertinent and timely reports to co-workers.
- Utilize electronic medical records effectively and document accurately and legibly.
Requirements
- Current unrestricted medical license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Comfortable working independently.
- Minimum of three years of emergency medicine experience.
Schedule
The primary work site is Olivia Hospital & Clinic. This position requires flexibility to work a variety of shift lengths, with assignments ranging from 12-hour to 72-hour shifts, based on departmental and patient care needs. Scheduling may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Location
Olivia is a small town in Renville County, offering rustic parks, hiking trails, fishing, birding, horse trails, camps, and hunting. The area includes neighboring county parks such as Mack Lake, Birch Coulee, Vicksburg, and Lake Allie. Located an hour and a half west of the Twin Cities, Renville combines small-town charm with accessibility to Minneapolis/St. Paul for day or weekend trips.
