About the Role
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) serves as the lead onsite advanced practice provider for our occupational health clinic in Radford, VA. This role combines direct clinical care with program support, medical surveillance, and collaboration with client stakeholders. Working at the top of licensure, the NP/PA independently evaluates and manages occupational injuries and illnesses, performs advanced assessments, conducts regulatory medical exams, and provides clinical leadership to ensure employee health, workplace safety, and compliance. The provider functions autonomously when a physician is not onsite and collaborates closely with the WorkCare Consulting Medical Director (CMD), WorkCare support teams, and client partners. We are offering a $1,500 sign-on bonus for this position!
Responsibilities
- Independently assess, diagnose, and manage occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Conduct comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and screenings.
- Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within scope.
- Develop evidence-based treatment plans and oversee follow-up care.
- Provide expert consultation for complex or higher-acuity cases.
- Deliver advanced triage, stabilization, and emergency clinical decision-making.
- Serve as the lead onsite clinician when no physician is present, consulting with the CMD as needed.
