About the role
The Orthopedics/Hand Surgery Nurse Practitioner (APRN) provides specialized care for patients with hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity conditions in collaboration with orthopedic hand surgeons and a multidisciplinary care team. This provider delivers comprehensive patient care across the continuum, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, postoperative management, and patient education. The APRN plays a key role in helping patients restore function, improve mobility, reduce pain, and achieve optimal outcomes through AdventHealth's commitment to whole-person care.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal and upper extremity conditions under the supervision of orthopedic hand surgeons.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- Provide postoperative management and patient education for patients undergoing hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity surgeries.
- Interpret diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and laboratory results to guide patient care decisions.
- Communicate effectively with patients to ensure they understand their condition, treatment options, and care plan.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely in electronic medical records (EMR).
Requirements
- Master's of Nursing degree [Required]
- Field of Study: Nursing [Required]
- 1+ year of related work experience [Required]
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license [Required]
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification [Required]

- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical documentation.
