About the role

The Orthopedics/Hand Surgery Nurse Practitioner (APRN) provides specialized care for patients with hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity conditions in collaboration with orthopedic hand surgeons and a multidisciplinary care team. This provider delivers comprehensive patient care across the continuum, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, postoperative management, and patient education. The APRN plays a key role in helping patients restore function, improve mobility, reduce pain, and achieve optimal outcomes through AdventHealth's commitment to whole-person care.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal and upper extremity conditions under the supervision of orthopedic hand surgeons.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Provide postoperative management and patient education for patients undergoing hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity surgeries.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and laboratory results to guide patient care decisions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to ensure they understand their condition, treatment options, and care plan.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely in electronic medical records (EMR).

Requirements

  • Master's of Nursing degree [Required]
  • Field of Study: Nursing [Required]
  • 1+ year of related work experience [Required]
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license [Required]
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification [Required]

Qualifications

  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical documentation.
