Summary:
CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital, Shoreline in Corpus Christi is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their Cardiology team. This position provides medical and surgical services, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules necessary studies, and provides direct patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with other health care providers, practicing within the boundaries of the appropriate advanced practice category.
- Independently or collaboratively observes, assesses, diagnoses, intervenes, evaluates, rehabilitates, cares for, counsels, and teaches patients regarding their health status.
- Utilizes mechanisms like protocols for authority when providing medical care.
- Assesses and manages patient health problems, promoting health and preventing illness.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates health care treatments.
- Obtains histories and performs physical examinations on patients of all appropriate age groups.
- Assesses and interprets laboratory and radiological findings.
- Uses critical thinking to individualize patient care.
- Prescribes medications and supports therapies.
- Performs advanced procedures as approved by the credentialing committee.
- Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and prescribed treatments.
- Works independently and collaboratively with the medical staff, consulting, collaborating, and referring as needed.
- Synthesizes new knowledge from conferences, workshops, and professional literature.
- Teaches other healthcare professionals about practice, techniques, and procedures unique to the clinical setting.
- Participates in research projects.
- Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records.
Requirements:
- Advanced Nursing Degree or Master's Degree required.
- Current Texas State Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license or PA license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR).
- Specialty area experience preferred.
- Clinical and management experience.
- Effective problem-solving and service marketing skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong team-oriented approach and interdepartmental collaboration principles.
