Nurse Practitioner-Internal Medicine -ISM, Mount Sinai Hospital - Part Time - Day

About the role

The position involves providing comprehensive care to patients with internal medicine conditions. Responsibilities include assessing health status, initiating and ordering procedures, prescribing medications, and maintaining patient records. The role requires adherence to established standards and protocols, as well as collaboration with physicians.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the health status of patients/families through comprehensive health history and physical examination.
• Initiates and orders selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations.
• Prescribes medication regimens and interprets findings, altering the plan of care according to accepted standards.
• Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record.
• Consults with physicians according to established standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures continuity of care.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and conferences.
• Completes Focused Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluations (FPPE) or Ongoing Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluations (OPPE) as required for credentialing.
• Works within a Collaborative Practice Agreement or Collaborative Practice Relationship Attestation as a member of the healthcare team.

Requirements

• New York State License with current registration as a registered nurse.
• Certified by the New York State Department of Education as a Nurse Practitioner with current registration.
• Completion of a pharmacy component of not less than the required semester hours or the equivalent.
• Knowledge of New York State and Federal Laws relating to prescriptions and recordkeeping.
• Experience relevant to the area of clinical practice.
• For NPs hired after June 1, 2019, National Board Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing is required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS), and The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificates as required by specialty.

Qualifications

• Master's degree program designed to prepare a NP to diagnose, treat, and prescribe for a patients condition that falls within their specialty area of practice.
• Previous progressive experience relevant to the area of clinical practice.
• Credentialed through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical Board with approved Delineation of Privileges.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and DEA certificate required.
