Sonoma State University (SSU) is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join the Student Health Center (SHC) team. Funded primarily by student fees, the SHC offers low or no-cost services, including treatment for acute illness and minor injury, age- and lifestyle-appropriate screenings, reproductive health care (including medication abortion), and a strong focus on health education and preventive care. The team includes administrators, medical assistants, registered nurses, a health educator, a laboratory scientist, a pharmacist, and medical providers.
The Role
As a Nurse Practitioner, you’ll be a vital member of the SHC team, reporting to the Associate Director and Lead Physician. You’ll deliver direct care to students while contributing to department planning, quality improvement initiatives, committee participation, and outreach efforts. The role emphasizes excellence, dependability, empathy, inclusion, teamwork, and overall well-being, ensuring you can make a lasting impact on student health and success.
Qualifications
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner in the State of California with national board certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Comfortable using computers and electronic health records.
- Experience in higher education and an interest in serving students from historically marginalized communities is highly preferred.
- Successful completion of live scan fingerprinting is required.
Pay
Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience, ranging from $60.30 (Step 3) to $74.98 (Step 14) per hour.
Schedule
This is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt position. Reappointment is dependent on performance and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate the appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.
