Nurse Practitioner Hospice PRN

About the Role

Amedisys is seeking a PRN (as needed) Nurse Practitioner to provide compassionate care and make a difference in patients' lives by supporting home health and hospice services.

Responsibilities

• Communicate significant findings, problems, changes in condition, or environment to the clinical manager, attending physician, and interdisciplinary team.
• Conduct face-to-face encounters to assess disease-related changes, functional decline, pain and symptom management, patient and family coping mechanisms, and quality of life.
• Order and review lab work, x-rays, EKGs, and other diagnostic procedures for palliation and treatment of terminal diseases; document the treatment plan and review results with the collaborating physician.
• Make referrals to other disciplines as indicated by patient needs.
• Actively participate in interdisciplinary team conferences.

Qualifications

• Current and unencumbered Nurse Practitioner license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or one (1) year of experience as a hospice Registered Nurse within the last three (3) years.
• Authority to practice and prescribe as a Nurse Practitioner in the state where services are provided.
• Medicare billing privileges as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Must meet state-specific collaborative requirements for physician-nurse practitioner practice and provide copies of active collaborating physician agreements.
• Insurance as required by state law for nurse practitioners to practice and prescribe, or eligibility for group coverage through Amedisys.
• Knowledge of Medicare reimbursement, coding for all service levels (home, office, nursing home, assisted living, etc.), Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements.
• Current CPR certification.
