Nurse Practitioner - Full Time

About the role

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for interviewing clients, obtaining and recording health histories, performing physical and developmental assessments, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, diagnosing health problems, and managing the health care of clients. Maintains health records, suggests referrals when necessary, and ensures policies and procedures within each office are carried out in a fair and consistent manner while providing excellence in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical examinations and assures that preventive screening procedures are carried out and communicated to the patient.
• Identifies medical and health risk factors and communicates them appropriately.
• Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests.
• Identifies appropriate pharmacological agents and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Prescribes pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic therapies.
• Makes appropriate referrals and updates health records with changes in health status and diagnosis.
• Determines effectiveness of the plan of care and reassesses or modifies the plan as necessary.
• Promotes a safe environment for the patient and interacts with professional colleagues through chart review, consultation, and referrals.
• Administers twelve-lead electrocardiograms.
• Performs suturing of simple and complex lacerations not requiring tendon or ligament repair.
• Performs incision and drainage of abscesses, care of wounds and burns, and application of splints.
• Removes foreign bodies when necessary.
• Prescribes, initiates, monitors, modifies, or discontinues drug therapies within the APRN's scope of practice and in accordance with applicable laws.
• Prescribes Schedule II-V controlled substances, when authorized, in compliance with Florida statutes, federal regulations, and DEA requirements.
• Systematically reviews records and treatment plans with collaborating or consulting physicians as required by law and organizational policy.
• Adheres to clinical guidelines, completes charting within 3 working days of patient encounter, and ensures compliance with all ProHealth clinical guidelines.
• Ensures patients with chronic conditions see a provider and complete labs before refills are provided.
• Maintains current knowledge by attending educational programs and ensures all state medical regulations are followed.
• Achieves 4- or 5-star reviews from patient visits, provides patient education, and submits prescriptions on a timely basis.
• Performs all other procedures the APRN has been educated to perform.
• Ensures all OSHA, safety, and healthcare practices and protocols are implemented and maintained within each branch.
• Assists clinical staff with office management when required.

Requirements

• APRN License in the state of Florida, in good standing.
• Two or more years of experience in a multi-site medical setting strongly preferred.
• DEA and DOT licenses.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Position requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending for long periods, and sitting at a desk.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Saturday, but may require hours outside of these times as business and patient needs dictate. Periodic travel to other clinic sites may be required for this position.
