About the role

The APRN will report directly to the Medical Director and oversee the day-to-day medical flow. They are responsible for completing admissions processes with all new clients, identifying and documenting chronic and acute medical needs, and communicating these to the nursing team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the medical flow and complete admissions processes with new clients
  • Identify and document chronic and acute medical needs and communicate to the nursing team
  • Represent the facility in a positive manner, both personally and professionally
  • Promote a mutually supportive environment emphasizing collaboration and valuing contributions from all members, including staff and clients
  • Monitor health issues and refer clients for specialized care as needed
  • Analyze situations quickly and apply sound judgment
  • Provide client's needs, make referrals to, and collaborate with appropriate resources and community organizations
  • Discuss code blue and/or medical transfers with the participating team members in an open and respectful manner
  • Perform admission assessments, including physicals, for newly admitted clients
  • Report appropriate adverse drug reactions to appropriate authorities
  • Discuss possible side effects of medications prescribed with clients
  • Diagnose and treat acute health problems such as injuries, infections, illnesses
  • Provide medical on-call services
  • Utilize critical thinking skills when treating and managing in a detox setting

Qualifications

  • APRN licensure and certification in the appropriate state, maintaining current licensure per state requirements
  • Maintains malpractice insurance coverage
  • Has a current CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Preferred DEA license
  • Previous experience working in and a strong commitment to a team environment
  • Previous work with addictions, mental illness, and homelessness or willingness to learn about the systemic issues affecting those we serve
  • Knowledge/experience of how to safely de-escalate potentially volatile situations

Skills

  • Competent in using EMR and information systems in providing effective documentation of client care

Abilities

  • Ability to monitor health issues and refer clients for specialized care as needed
  • Ability to analyze situations quickly and apply sound judgement
  • Ability to provide client's needs, make referrals to, and collaborate with appropriate resources and community organizations

Other Characteristics

  • Ensure all documentation is non-judgmental
  • Ensure all incidents are properly documented and any concerns/recommendations are communicated to supervisor
  • Ensure the flow of critical information is communicated to the appropriate team members
  • Take part in quality assurance audits and peer reviews
  • Ensure continuous flow of communication with leadership to enhance the quality of care given to clients
  • Ensure recent Criminal Record Check
  • Ensure a non-judgmental attitude
  • Ensure meeting state and certifying bodies requirements for continuing education
  • Ensure all documentation is timely and meets state and insurance standards
  • Meet and maintain all pre-employment requirements which includes reference checks, applicable state and national required background screening, 10 panel urine drug screen, DMV check, insurance (if applicable), and license/credential verifications
