Nurse Practitioner for Residential Facility

About the role

The APRN will report directly to the Medical Director and oversee the day-to-day medical flow. They are responsible for completing admissions processes with all new clients, identifying and documenting their chronic and acute medical needs, and communicating these needs to the nursing team.

Responsibilities

• Represent the facility in a positive manner, both personally and professionally.
• Promote a mutually supportive environment that emphasizes a collaborative approach and values contributions from all members, including staff and clients.
• Oversee the admissions process for new clients.
• Identify and document chronic and acute medical needs of clients and communicate these to the nursing team.
• Monitor health issues and refer clients for specialized care as needed.
• Analyze situations quickly and apply sound judgment.
• Collaborate with appropriate resources and community organizations.
• Treat acute health problems such as injuries, infections, and illnesses.
• Utilize critical thinking skills when treating and managing in a detox setting.
• Ensure all documentation is non-judgmental and meets state and insurance standards.
• Maintain continuous flow of communication with leadership to enhance the quality of care given to clients.

Requirements

• APRN Licensure and Certification in the appropriate state, maintaining current licensure per state requirements.
• Malpractice insurance coverage.
• CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate.
• DEA license preferred.
• Previous experience working in and a strong commitment to a team environment.
• Understanding of systemic issues affecting those we serve (previous experience or willingness to learn).
• Knowledge/experience of how to safely de-escalate potentially volatile situations.

Qualifications

• Current CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate.
• Competent in using EMR and information systems in providing effective documentation of client care.
• Ability to monitor health issues and refer clients for specialized care as needed.
• Ability to analyze situations quickly and apply sound judgement.
• Provide client’s needs, make referrals to, and collaborate with appropriate resources and community organizations.
• Discuss code blue and/or medical transfers with the participating team members in an open and respectful manner.
• Perform admission assessment, including physicals, for newly admitted clients.
• Report appropriate adverse drug reactions to appropriate authorities.
• Discuss with client’s possible side effects of medications that are prescribed.
• Diagnose and treat acute health problems such as injuries, infections, illnesses.
• Utilize critical thinking skills when treating and managing in a detox setting.
• Ensure all documentation is non-judgmental.
• Ensure all incidents are properly documented and any concerns/recommendations are communicated to supervisor.
• Ensure the flow of critical information is communicated to the appropriate team members.
• Take part in quality assurance audits and peer reviews.
• Maintain continuous flow of communication with leadership to enhance the quality of care given to clients.
• Recent Criminal Record Check.
• Non-Judgmental attitude.
• Maintain all pre-employment requirements which includes reference checks, applicable state and national required background screening, 10 panel urine drug screen, DMV check, insurance (if applicable), and license/credential verifications.
