About the Role

This position works in a collaborative model including residents, fellows, attendings, and staff who care for outpatient clinic patients. Under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician, you will work with primary care coordinators (PCCs), staff nurses, and discharge coordinators in planning, implementing, and evaluating medical and nursing care. Responsibilities include primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching residents and medical students, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes approved medical practices in delivering patient care.
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and age-specific criteria for patients served.
  • Maintains an attitude of inquiry toward medical practices and patient care outcomes; may develop research methodology.
  • Provides educational experiences to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and the community.
  • Adapts behavior to specific patient populations, including respect for privacy, communication style, and explanation of services.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory requirements applicable to the assigned area.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing (required).
  • Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice.
  • Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANPCP).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications, role-specific software, and keyboard use.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at department and system levels.
  • Reliable transportation for travel between facilities.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7 availability, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Preferred: 3 years of related working experience.

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and negligible to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, reach, and demonstrate manual dexterity.
  • Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue; occupational risk for communicable diseases.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous medications or waste within a healthcare environment.
