Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including medical histories, fertility histories, and physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing related to fertility care including hormone panels, ultrasounds, and imaging studies.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with reproductive endocrinologists.
- Monitor patients undergoing fertility treatments including ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination (IUI), and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
- Perform baseline and monitoring ultrasounds when credentialed and trained.
- Prescribe medications and adjust treatment protocols according to physician-approved plans and clinical findings.
- Manage early pregnancy monitoring including lab interpretation and ultrasound follow-up.
- Auxiliary fertility-related procedures under supervision.
- Educate patients regarding fertility diagnoses, treatment options, and medication protocols.
- Counsel patients regarding treatment expectations, risks, and outcomes.
- Support patients through complex and emotionally sensitive treatment journeys.
- Ensure patients understand medication administration and monitoring schedules.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and embryology lab staff to coordinate patient treatment cycles.
- Review laboratory and ultrasound results and communicate updates to patients.
- Document patient encounters and treatment plans in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Follow clinic protocols and evidence-based fertility practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical protocol development.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and clinic policies.
Requirements
- Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Active Alabama NP license.
- Two or more years of Nurse Practitioner experience.
- Strong phlebotomy skills.
- Strong clinical and communication skills.
- Familiarity with OSHA, CDC, and infection control standards.
- Experience in reproductive medicine, OB/GYN, women’s health or endocrinology preferred.
- Experience with pelvic ultrasound and fertility treatment procedures preferred.
