Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
- Provides care emphasizing health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases.
- Adheres to and functions within the scope of practice defined by the Arizona Board of Nursing and the organization.
- Functions within a Shared Governance model for decision-making, focusing on performance standards that align with the organization's initiatives.
- Directs care practice using a holistic perspective, therapeutic partnerships with patients, expert clinical thinking, and skillful performance.
- Reflects on clinical practice and utilizes evidence-based guided practice.
- Collaborates with physicians to perform history and physicals, order and interpret diagnostic studies, prescribe medications, consult ancillary departments and other specialists, and provide a smooth transition between various levels of care, including discharge.
- Coaches and guides nursing staff, provides consultation to healthcare providers, supports research, and leads clinical, professional, and systems leadership.
- Mentors staff nurses by promoting their direct involvement in decisions that guide patient-family centered care, while ensuring the standards of the profession and specialty are maintained.
- Conducts and supports research, evidence-based practice, and process improvement projects to enhance outcomes of care.
- Learns and incorporates current research findings and other available evidence into practice.
- Manages reimbursement and business practices, marketing and contracting considerations, legal, regulatory, and credentialing requirements, health policy issues, organizational structure and culture, and outcome evaluation and performance improvement.
Requirements
- Master's Degree MS, MN or MSN from a National League of Nursing (NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
- One year as a Registered Nurse
- Bilingual-Spanish (Preferred)
- Clinical BCLS - Basic Life Support BCLS Certification Upon Hire
- Fingerprint Clearance Card - State Current Fingerprint Clearance card, or within seven (7) working days after employment shall apply and be eligible for a Fingerprint Clearance Card (Pediatric Behavioral Health Sites ONLY)
- DEA - Drug Enforcement Administration DEA License Upon Hire
- Nursing NP - Nurse Practitioner Valid Arizona Licensure With Prescriptive Authority Nurse Practitioner Upon Hire
- Nursing NPC - Cert Nurse Practitioner certification must be aligned with the Arizona Board of Nursing scope of practice for nurse practitioners.
- Specialty board certification from approved national certifying agencies: American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC); National Certification Corporation, or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
