Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
- Provides care emphasizing health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases.
- Adheres to and functions within the scope of practice defined by the Arizona Board of Nursing and the organization.
- Practices nursing theory based on evidence, utilizing a Shared Governance model for decision-making.
- Focuses on performance standards that align with the organization's initiatives.
- Directs care practice using a holistic perspective, therapeutic partnerships, expert clinical thinking, and skillful performance.
- Reflects on practice and utilizes evidence-based guided practice.
- Demonstrates leadership as a mentor, educator, researcher, and provider.
- Coaches and guides nursing staff, consults with healthcare providers, provides research support, and engages in clinical, professional, and systems leadership.
- Collaborates with healthcare providers and ensures ethical decision-making.
- Promotes nursing staff development through clinical skill development, critical thinking skills, discharge planning, and effective nurse-physician-client-family communication skills.
- Mentors staff nurses by involving them in decisions that guide patient-family centered care, while maintaining the standards of the profession and specialty.
- Conducts and supports research, evidence-based practice, and process improvement projects to enhance outcomes of care.
- Advocates for the incorporation of current research findings and other available evidence in practice.
- Learns and applies reimbursement and business practices, marketing, contracting considerations, legal, regulatory, and credentialing requirements, health policy issues, organizational structure and culture, and outcome evaluation and performance improvement.
Qualifications
- Required: Master's Degree MS, MN or MSN from a National League of Nursing (NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse
- Preferred: Bilingual-Spanish
- Required: BCLS Certification
- Required: DEA License
- Required: Arizona Licensure with Prescriptive Authority Nurse Practitioner
- Required: Specialty board certification from an approved national certifying agency (ANCC, National Certification Corporation, AANP)
