Responsibilities
- Perform bedside palliative care patient/family evaluation.
- Aid in diagnosis, treatment, and symptom management of acute and chronic health conditions.
- Order, execute, and interpret treatments within scope of professional practice.
- Consult with the program’s medical director as necessary; adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
- Initiate reimbursement for services provided.
- Contribute to the development of clinical practice guidelines/standards/protocols in support of quality palliative care.
- Train and educate staff on palliative care.
- Present reports and outcomes related to Palliative Care team goals and objectives at monthly meetings.
- Lead and direct the work of other practitioners within the scope of practice.
- Communicate and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members involved in patient care.
- Act as a patient advocate, continuously monitoring, tracking, assessing, and evaluating the quality of care.
- Promote communication between referring physicians and the entire team regarding the patient's care plan.
- Promote professional development of the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A graduate of an approved professional school of nursing.
- Completion of a State Board of Nursing approved Nurse Practitioner course and licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Mississippi.
- Certification from the Mississippi State Board of Nursing and the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
