Nurse Practitioner

About the Role
Indiana Treatment Centers, in partnership with Ascension Recovery Services, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our multidisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to provide evidence-based medical care to individuals recovering from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. The NP serves as a key member of the medical team, providing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing medical management for patients receiving substance use disorder (SUD) treatment.
The role is full-time and on-site, with a flexible schedule designed to support work-life balance while meeting the needs of our patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive medical evaluations, histories, and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Prescribe, monitor, and manage medications, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and withdrawal management protocols within scope of practice.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, nursing staff, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide timely clinical interventions.
- Review laboratory results, diagnostic testing, and consult reports.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation within the electronic health record.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support Joint Commission standards and regulatory compliance.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment, medications, recovery, and wellness.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Participate in on-call coverage as needed.
Requirements
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current Indiana Nurse Practitioner license in good standing.
- Current DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances.
- National board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology NP (AGNP), or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), as applicable.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in addiction medicine, behavioral health, detoxification, residential treatment, or psychiatry.
- Experience prescribing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
- Knowledge of ASAM criteria.
- Experience working in Joint Commission-accredited healthcare settings.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Primarily works within an inpatient behavioral health treatment facility.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and computer use.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to respond to medical emergencies.
- Exposure to individuals experiencing withdrawal symptoms, behavioral health crises, and psychiatric emergencies.
