Nurse Practitioner/Assistant Director of Nursing, Cardiology - Part Time

About the role

The Department of Cardiology Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner/TH Assistant Director of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Division Chief/Faculty with clinical and clinical administrative responsibilities.
• Triage patients presenting for E&M visits and non-invasive procedures, documenting patient charts.
• Develop and update policies and procedures for Cardiology Inpatient Services, and Preventive Cardiology.
• Collaborate with physicians to coordinate patient follow-up care.
• Respond to phone inquiries, review lab results, liaise with outside pharmacies.
• Maintain indicators in the Cardiology Inpatient Services and Preventive Cardiology Service for the Quality Improvement Program.
• Present trends and opportunities for improvement at the quarterly PI meeting.
• Provide continuous in-service to staff on new hospital-wide and division-specific policies and procedures/guidelines.
• Collect data for monthly statistical reporting.
• Provide divisional/unit orientation to all new clinical staff.
• Perform other clinical and administrative duties within the scope of the work assigned.

Qualifications

• New York State Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner Licensure.
• New York State certification as a Nurse Practitioner in specialty area.
• Master of Science Degree in Nursing.
• IV Certified Cardiac and Critical Care experience.
• ACLS/BLS certified.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
• 2-years of supervisory experience.
