About the Role

Under the leadership of the Nursing Director, the Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse responsible and accountable for the 24-hour planning, organizing, directing, and evaluation of clinical, administrative, operational, and regulatory/compliance activities for their assigned department(s). The scope of management responsibilities includes clinical and safety practices of nurses and other members of the clinical team, professional nursing practice, leadership and professional growth, human resource management, financial performance, system coordination, and clinical performance (safety, patient experience, and quality) improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Nursing leadership team to transform care delivery models and environmental design to ensure the delivery of safe patient care that is evidence-based, accessible, and affordable to all.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in the managed department(s).
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
  • Manages staff, including performance management, individualized development, pay recommendations, staff engagement, and conflict management.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license required.
  • Bachelor's degree required. One degree must be in Nursing. Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification in nursing administration is required within 5 years of assuming the position.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical experience.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated progressive leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Exceptions to the educational requirement will be evaluated on an individual basis. For example, a strong candidate in the process of completing the educational requirement will be considered. Continued progress toward completion of the educational requirement within five years will be required.
