Job Summary and Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
Master’s Degree in Nursing or health related field highly preferred
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN) required
National certification in relevant specialty practice area and/or Administration within six months of hire.
Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
ACLS certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
Must have five years of nursing experience in CVICU strongly preferred
One year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities as assistant nurse manager or charge nurse required

What qualifications you will need:

  • Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
  • Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
  • Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more
