About the role
The Patient Unit Manager supports and assists the Director within the framework of professional nursing practice. This position has 24-hour accountability for managing resources to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of patient services for specific patient populations in a defined area across the continuum.
Responsibilities
- Directs and coordinates patient care activities
- Manages human, material, and financial resources
- Supports and coaches unit-based shared governance councils
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and policies
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes
- Monitors and evaluates unit performance
- Develops and implements strategies to enhance patient care
Requirements
- Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license required
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
- One degree must be in Nursing
- Certification in nursing administration required within 5 years of assuming position
- Minimum 3 years relevant clinical experience
- CPR certification preferred
- Demonstrated progressive leadership skills
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
