Job Summary

Affords 24-hour oversight and coordination of administrative and operational activities within assigned areas. Collaborates with ancillary and interdisciplinary teams to set goals and objectives based on clinical data to enhance patient outcomes and foster a culture of excellence. Ensures achievement of key performance indicators and identified outcomes at the unit level.

Essential Functions

  • Provides daily operational oversight and clinical support to the health care team.
  • Serves as a role model, mentor, and clinical resource.
  • Maintains personal and professional growth, fostering an environment conducive to interdisciplinary team member contributions and professional development.
  • Models core cultural and safety behaviors to minimize preventable harm and implement high reliability principles.
  • Meets productivity targets for assigned department.
  • Supports strategic initiatives aligned with the organization's mission and vision.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN)
  • Masters of Science Nursing or Masters in Health Administration or related field (MScN/MHA preferred)
  • Current RN license in state working or covered by compact
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to entering patient care setting)
  • Certifications required based on the unit(s) overseen and specific unit requirements:
    • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)
    • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred)
    • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (preferred)
    • TNCC Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (preferred)
    • ENPC Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (preferred)
  • National Board Certification Specialty (preferred)
  • Nurse Executive Certification or designated specialty certification (preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years minimum experience as a professional nurse with demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • 1 year experience in appropriate specialty area (preferred)
  • Prior management/supervisory experience (preferred)
