Nurse Manager - PACU

As a Nurse Manager in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you will oversee the recovery room where patients are monitored closely as anesthesia wears off. You will collaborate with nursing caregivers to manage treatment plans, address patient and family concerns, and ensure high-quality care throughout the hospital. Your leadership will enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience for patients, visitors, and fellow caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
• Establish clinical direction, provide supervision, and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
• Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
• Develop and maintain unit-related patient care standards through continuous quality improvement.
• Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
• Analyze personnel structure, determine staffing needs, and manage staffing mix.
• Provide direction, supervision, and performance evaluations; conduct selection and termination processes.
• Actively promote staff and self-development.
• Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
• Direct unit participation in evaluation of new products.
• Approve purchases and establish or revise inventory quotes.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of the unit budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience.
• High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area.
• Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, and group process skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Surgical or procedural background.

Physical Requirements

• Full range of motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Frequent data entry, sitting, standing, and walking.
• Corrective vision and hearing to normal range.
• Some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

Works days from 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with on-call requirements.
