Nurse Manager

About the Role

The Manager, Nursing provides oversight and instructions for on-site nursing to staff and young adults. This role ensures all job responsibilities align with the mission and core values of Newport Healthcare and complies with all policies, procedures, OSHA, HIPAA, local, state, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between the nursing team and Medical Director/Director of Psychiatry.
• Delegate shift-specific responsibilities to maximize efficiency and accuracy in nursing care.
• Perform 2-4 clinical shifts monthly and fill in for nurses on vacation or call-outs; step in for clinical duties if the team is short-staffed.
• Conduct weekly chart audits and address missing or erroneous documentation immediately.
• Review all medication error reports and internal incident reports related to medications.
• Complete all compliance-related nursing documentation and treatment plans as indicated.
• Compile and distribute reports as required.
• Act as liaison with local pharmacies regarding payment issues and communicate with admissions staff when issues arise.
• Perform phlebotomy when ordered by a physician and coordinate with Quest for pickup.
• Uphold all policies and procedures of Newport Healthcare.

Requirements

• Must pass a health screening, TB test, and pre-employment drug screening.
• Current RN license in the state of Virginia required.
• Minimum of two years of prior nursing experience preferred.
• Minimum of one year of management/supervisory experience preferred.
