About the role

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the development, performance, and management of clinical patient care for nursing, medical assistants. The Nurse Manager works as part of a triad leadership team to make decisions that best support clinical staff, extended care team members, and providers to ensure patients obtain timely, effective, efficient, and safe care.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the clinical support team.
  • Implements and provides oversight of clinical care delivered by nursing, medical assistants, and ancillary care team.
  • Establishes work assignments and priorities for responsibility areas including nursing, Medical Assistants, and ancillary staff.
  • Responsible for management oversight of health center equipment needs, equipped examination rooms, infection control standards, CLIA and Radiology regulations, compliance with Standing Delegation Orders, and emergency events.
  • Makes sure compliance with standards of care for on-site treatments and procedures, administration of medications, and timely and quality clinical workflows.
  • Works with the practice administrator to ensure the clinical services team supports the overall operational and fiscal activities of the site, including staffing levels, budgets, financial and operating goals, and meeting productivity and quality goals.
  • Approves payroll and time off requests.
  • Partners with the practice administrator to administer performance evaluations, recruit, select, monitor, and orient new hires.
  • Coaches and counsels staff.
  • Acts as an effective member of the site Triad management team to support implementation of continuous improvement activities.
  • Serves as the site lead in the absence of the Practice Administrator.
  • Solves patient issues to ensure expected results.
  • Affirms quality of care philosophies and standards of care.
  • Maximizes quality outcomes for patients' services through the most appropriate utilization of systems.
  • Serves on CUC committees as assigned.
  • Adheres to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipating needed supplies, approving requisitions, and cost allocations.
  • Reviews and audits monthly quality metrics by viewing and monitoring data.
  • Reports and develops strategic plans to improve specific sites metrics.
  • Develops strong communication methods to cascade information.
  • Builds strong relationships with the team to ensure critical operational metrics and competencies are performed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High level of skill at building relationships and providing excellent customer and patient care.
  • High degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of nursing and documentation requirements.
  • Requisite skills and ability to perform assigned nursing tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to better serve patients and staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong application of Microsoft office and electronic health records.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission standards, HIPAA regulations, Patient Centered Medical Home, and Value Based Care.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Prioritization of progressive management/leadership experience working in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience leading teams with clinical quality improvement, clinical workflow development, patient care coordination, preventative health, and nursing triage.
