Responsibilities

• Manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
• Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
• Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
• Supervise caregivers and promote development.
• Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
• Cookordination unit operations with other units/departments.
• Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.
• Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.
• Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
• Direct unit participation in evaluation of new products.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of budget.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) - if in neonatal care services, perinatal care services, Level 3 Obstetric Service area or Level 4 Obstetric Service area
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross
• Certification upon or within one year of hire
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience
• High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
• Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills

Qualifications

• Two years of NICU Level 3 or 4 RN experience
• Physical Requirements: Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye and hand coordination. Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking. Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
• Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Skills

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM. Availability to come in and meet with night shift caregivers is required. A caregiver who excels in this role will:

We are committed to serving the community and treating our patients as family. Our NICU opened November 1, 2024, under Cleveland Clinic oversight. We are a 14-bed, level III NICU. We admit infants born as young as 22 weeks gestational age up to full term babies who need help transitioning to life outside the womb. We care for babies who need full-body cooling, respiratory support (CPAP, conventional ventilators, jet ventilator, oscillator), and IV nutrition support as well as attend high risk deliveries and lead neonatal resuscitations. We have a full staff of neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and a dedicated respiratory therapy team who are on-site 24/7. Along with our provider team, we have a full team of therapists - physical, occupational, and speech and a dedicated dietician, who are here Monday through Friday. Nurse patient ratios are generally 1:3 (i.e. feeder/growers) or 1:2 (i.e. CPAP, stable vent, central lines) with the occasional 1:1 for those extremely high acuity babies (i.e. cooling, unstable jet or oscillator, nitric).

Pay

Pay Range Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00 Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
