About the Role

This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities, including communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees. The incumbent has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. Responsibilities also include developing performance expectations, conducting performance reviews, maintaining schedules, and completing timesheets.

Leads and manages all aspects of Florida’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (FBCC), providing direction, leadership, and technical assistance to 18 sites and supervising four FTE and one OPS staff. Serves as the lead for CDC grant application development and submission of semi-annual reports. Participates in budget development, allocation, and amendments, and responds to legislative and priority assignments related to cancer initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide clinical expertise, technical assistance, and quality improvement guidance on breast and cervical cancer screening, diagnostics, follow-up, billing approvals, and treatment compliance with Florida Statutes and federal grant requirements.
• Provide nursing and administrative consultation to FBCC staff, county health departments (CHDs), and program partners, interpreting rules, policies, and evidence-based guidelines.
• Lead the development, review, and revision of program rules, manuals, policies, and procedures for breast and cervical cancer screening services.
• Analyze proposed legislation and rules for impact on women’s health care delivery and develop proposals for statutory/rule amendments.
• Supervise and participate in program monitoring, education, and training for CHD staff, providers, and others, ensuring compliance with program guidelines.
• Participate in and supervise planning, organization, and coordination of meetings and activities for technical and advisory councils.
• Develop initiatives to expand, improve, and coordinate services with the Bureau of Chronic Disease and Prevention and other state agencies.
• Represent the department at local, state, and national meetings, providing educational presentations and serving on ad hoc committees, task forces, and coalitions.
• Assist the Cancer Program Administrator with policy decisions, strategic planning, and evaluation activities, including formative and summative program evaluations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required by program activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in Florida or a Multistate RN License from another Compact State.
• Willingness to work on-site to perform duties and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of clinical experience.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage a daily schedule.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), SharePoint, and electronic health records.
• Experience with data entry.

Skills

Pay

$64,000 - $70,000 annually.
