Responsibilities
- Effectively select, develop, and manage staff performance to achieve staff experience, clinical, patient experience, quality, and financial goals.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit, hire, and retain qualified personnel.
- Support unit staff (Nurses, Endoscopy technicians, and Medical Secretaries) in identifying patient care priorities and promoting critical thinking skills.
- Assist the team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Serve as an internal consultant for complex patient care needs.
- Partner with the Director to prepare and monitor unit budgets, including variance reports and budget adherence plans.
- Participate in the development and implementation of nursing care practice standards.
- Utilize nursing research to support and advance professional nursing practice, critically analyzing research studies for inclusion in practice.
- Advance professional nursing practice through publication, membership in professional organizations, and best practice research.
- Represent nursing and/or the unit on hospital-wide committees and initiatives.
- Ensure all credentials (licensure, certifications, trainings, competencies) are up-to-date in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements.
- Work closely with the Chief of Gastroenterology and participate in multi-disciplinary clinical meetings for successful patient care management.
- Model and promote patient advocacy.
- Review safety incident reports for completeness, report negative outcomes to quality and safety, and problem-solve to prevent recurrence.
- Develop education materials for patients, families, and staff, collaborating with Quality and Safety and/or Nursing Professional Development as needed.
- Assure appropriate orientation, competence assessment, and continuing education for all staff.
- Lead ongoing process improvement efforts to meet or exceed benchmarks in key areas, ensuring efficient, safe, and productive unit workflow.
- Identify staff educational needs and develop programs to meet those needs, collaborating with unit Educators and equipment vendors.
- Accept responsibility for identifying and meeting own educational needs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of nursing division goals and department/unit-specific goals.
- Oversee and conduct performance appraisals for all staff.
- Maintain effective open communication across all areas to ensure alignment of programs, services, and outcomes.
- Coach and support staff by removing barriers and addressing issues.
- Participate in the educational experiences of students on clinical rotations through affiliated schools.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of hospital policies and protocols, ensuring compliance.
- Demonstrate competency with all regulatory expectations and guidelines (e.g., CDC, DPH, SGNA, Joint Commission).
- Build collegial relationships to foster compassionate and committed teams across Endoscopy and with all stakeholders.
- Participate in the development and implementation of standards, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to facilitate quality patient care and meet regulatory requirements.
- Foster staff development by assisting them in identifying goals and learning opportunities, encouraging creativity, and celebrating accomplishments.
Requirements
- Current licensure from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, or Business Administration preferred; BSN required.
- 3–5 years of Endoscopy-related experience.
- ACLS certification.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in area of nursing practice.
- Experience with EHRs (EPIC preferred) and MS Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $165,000.00 USD - $215,000.00 USD. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors.
