Nurse Manager - ED- ER Services
About the Role
You will be responsible for planning, organizing, delegating, directing, negotiating, and evaluating services delivered by the Emergency Department in support of the hospital's Mission, Vision, and facility goals. You will establish effective working relationships with all constituencies, including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors. Collaboration and coordination with other department management personnel are essential for the functions and activities of nursing care performed in the Emergency Department, ensuring conformance with recognized nursing techniques, procedures, established standards, and administrative policies.
Maintaining effective communication, you will develop and recommend policies, procedures, or programs to improve or enhance the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of patient care within the specialty area in collaboration with medical staff and other disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, delegate, direct, negotiate, and evaluate Emergency Department services.
- Establish effective working relationships with patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other department management for nursing care activities in the Emergency Department.
- Maintain effective communication across all levels.
- Develop and recommend policies, procedures, or programs to improve patient care quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Manage staff, including supervisory positions.
- Prepare and manage budgets.
- Manage physician relationships.
- Resolve operational and patient care issues.
- Demonstrate knowledge of quality improvement.
- Coordinate a multi-disciplinary team.
- Perform diversified duties with time limitations and high accuracy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; advanced degree preferred.
- Five years of progressive management experience, including:
- Management of staff, including supervisory positions.
- Budget preparation.
- Physician relationship management.
- Resolution of operational and patient care issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement.
- Coordination of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Current RN License in the State of Texas or compact license.
- AHA or ARC BLS provider.
- AHA or ARC ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire.
- TNCC required within 18 months of hire.
- ENPC or CEN within 18 months of hire.
- SAMA or CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (Provider or Instructor) required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
