Nurse Manager

About the role

The Nurse Manager assumes primary leadership and management of defined clinical nursing areas to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices. The Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Nursing required
• NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN required
• Three years post-licensure acute care RN experience (preferably in specialty area) to include leadership experience required
• Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
• CPR-BLS certification required by the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree preferred
• Nursing Leadership certification upon appointment or obtained within three years of appointment is preferred
• Other specialty-based certifications for nursing leadership (e.g., CCRN, CEN) are encouraged and supported
