Nurse Manager
Former patients may not be hired at the same location where they were treated until a minimum of one year has elapsed since the completion of their treatment at that location. Former patients may be considered for employment at other RCA locations within a year after treatment, subject to the standard hiring process without compromising ethical standards, patient care, or the reputation of RCA.
About the role
The Nurse Manager, working under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, is responsible for independently leading and supporting assigned units within the department. This includes chart audits, direct supervision of the nursing team, patient oversight, quality assurance, designing and executing clinical, operational, and technological trainings, onboarding new employees, and providing remedial training for staff to maintain high-quality clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Direct staff supervision, mentorship, and evaluation of all nursing staff.
- Ensure high-quality clinical outcomes through electronic monitoring, direct physical oversight, and prompt incident report review.
- Provide formal trainings, remedial trainings, and one-on-one coaching to educate nursing staff on clinical activities, operational procedures, and technology use.
- Identify ongoing training needs through direct oversight and chart audits, and develop workflows to meet those needs, including small-group or one-on-one remedial work.
- Ensure training events are completed on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing Team to develop, implement, and maintain new and established initiatives.
- Stay updated on policy, protocol, operational, and technological changes at RCA and incorporate them into training activities.
- Annually create and disseminate updated emergency response, infection control, and training plans for all employees in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
- Ensure all nursing staff are current with required electronic seminars via the Learning Management System.
- Consult routinely with the Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and Health Care Providers to support RCA’s mission, vision, and values.
- Interact with patients, families, and clinical teams to promote individualized, person-centered, and recovery-oriented treatment.
- Maintain standards of care and nursing practices with a focus on safety and evidence-based practice.
- Adhere to and support nursing department quality and compliance expectations from accreditors, licensures, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct nursing competencies, remedial or reeducation, and employee corrective action as indicated.
- Collaborate with site leadership team members as part of the leadership team.
- Conduct purposeful rounding and support assigned units.
- Monitor and maintain employee schedules and payroll.
Requirements
- Current active state licensure as a practical nurse required; current/active state licensure as a registered nurse strongly preferred.
- At least two years of experience in behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment preferred.
- Current CPR or BLS certification preferred (or must complete during orientation period).
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Motivational Interviewing, Clinical Supervision, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Addiction Severity Index, ASAM, trauma-informed care, and/or treatment planning.
- Strong knowledge of electronic medical records preferred.
- Willingness to be flexible in adjusting to new and changing situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- CARN certification preferred, where applicable.
- Competency in performing CLIA waived testing.
- Proficiency in screening/assessing for suicide ideation and aggression.
- Ability to safely administer medications.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional skilled nursing environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as medical equipment, computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands

- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to administer at least 2 consecutive minutes of quality CPR.
Travel
Travel to the corporate office or another RCA location may be required from time to time. Otherwise, this position is located at the site.
Pay
$58,000 - $85,000 per year
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (shift flexibility required).
