Operating 11 Community Health Centers, two PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) Senior Care facilities, and 2 Mobile Health Units, PHS extends its services to residents across five counties: Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Orange, and Lee.
Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) are community-based healthcare providers that receive funds from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program to provide primary care services in under-served areas.
About the Role
Utilizes the nursing process including: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and recording of patient care and patient education. Provides support to providers by anticipating needs and assisting in the provision of care. Coordinates services with other members of the health-care team, internal and external, to provide complex patient care. Answers or returns phone calls. Provides onsite and telephone triage. Assists with the check-in process when needed. Practices within the scope of the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act and Piedmont Health Services' policies, procedures, and standards.
Hires, supervises, and coordinates the orientation of new staff. Performs staff evaluations and develops Performance Improvement Plans as needed. Evaluates and coordinates ongoing training. Participates in conflict resolution. Works with the management team to address center flow and operations. Maintains inventory of supplies and medications and orders as needed. Ensures all quality assurance measures are achieved. Assures adequate clinical support staffing. Provides leadership and models professional behavior to the staff.

Supervisory Locations: Incumbent will provide nursing management support for Chapel Hill CHC, Mobile Health Unit, and the PHS Employee Health Clinic.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes nursing knowledge and required skills to ensure appropriate assessments.
- Assesses individual patient conditions utilizing clinical observation, medical record, verbal information, and interaction with patient/family and care team.
- Identifies the impact of cultural diversity and lifestyle choices on patient condition and makes accommodations for such differences.
- Verifies and safely administers medications as ordered by provider and documents medication given.
- Utilizes clinical judgment and critical thinking to provide appropriate advice or intervention in response to triage and documents appropriately.
- Contributes to quality control/safety by participating in routine checks including code cart, medications, equipment, and refrigerator temperatures.
- Assesses learning needs of patient/family and selects appropriate teaching method based on age, learning ability, and other pertinent factors.
- Performs/assists in medical procedures, treatments, and tests using skilled technique, following all prescribed safety regulations, and documents as appropriate.
Requirements
- Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current/valid NC Registered Nurse’s License and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- A combination of clinical and management experience totaling at a minimum of 5 years.
- Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment.
Preferred experience: Previous experience in an ambulatory health care setting.

Pay
$81,761 - $109,880 (commensurate with years of experience)
