Nurse Manager-Ambulatory (Administration)

About the role

The Ambulatory Clinic Nurse Manager at Nemours Children's Hospital, Orlando, Florida, is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations, quality, and service of assigned clinic locations and divisions. This position ensures adequate clinical and support staffing, meets daily operational requirements, and addresses operations needs as they arise.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a patient and family-centered care model promoting the nurse-patient partnership and the professional role of the nurse.
• Manages assigned Ambulatory Clinic staff promoting a healthy work and learning environment.
• Ensures adequate training of new staff and ongoing training of existing staff.
• Maintains adequate coverage in the assigned clinical area and when necessary, provides justification for changes in staffing levels.
• Hires, counsels, and provides disciplinary actions to Ambulatory Clinic staff as necessary.
• Provides feedback and coaching to staff on an ongoing basis utilizing the Nemours Standards of Behavior.
• Performs timely annual performance reviews for all assigned staff in accordance with Human Resources policy and procedures.
• Makes sure expenses are managed effectively and assure compliance with the budget.
• Operationalizes the integrated model of care and assures nursing compliance with regulatory readiness agencies.
• Led quality improvement projects designed to improve nursing clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
• Participates in nursing research activities and supports evidence-based pediatric nursing.
• Models a caring philosophy focusing on health promotion and safety education.
• Promotes age-appropriate developmental considerations and holistic patient care.
• Directs nursing planning and policy making through constructive collaboration in key committees.
• Promotes an interdisciplinary approach.
• Promotes Nemours with a positive image in community activities and events.
• Teaches, coaches, and mentors all staff to meet and exceed customer service goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (up to 3-4 years of formal training/education beyond high school) required.
• Master's Degree in Nursing or other field preferred.
• Current Florida Nursing license in good standing.
• Current AHA BLS Certification required.
• Minimum of five (5) years Nursing experience preferred.
• Management experience preferred.
• Travel may be required to other clinic locations.
