Nurse Manager - 11N Swing
Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Assistant Director of Nursing/Nurse Manager is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population, supervises, coordinates, and directs the twenty-four hour daily operation of a unit(s) and the staff. They provide a cost-effective, safe, therapeutic, and aesthetically pleasing environment. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties
- Identifies staffing needs based on patient acuity and nurse level of practice.
- Plans monthly and vacation time schedules.
- Interviews and recommends selection of nursing staff.
- Completes shift and/or daily patient care and unit assignment sheets based on patient acuity and nurses' levels of practice.
- Delegates specific tasks to subordinates according to their abilities and the task at hand, providing them with direction and supervision for successful task completion.
- Maintains monitoring the quality of nursing care rendered, and the documentation of the nursing process through direct interaction with nursing staff and their assigned patients.
- Coordinates the delivery of patient care rendered, and the documentation of the nursing process through direct interaction with nursing staff and their assigned patients.
- Conducts ongoing review and audit of patients' medical records.
- Ensures all staff's compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Establishes and maintains per levels of equipment and supplies needed to provide direct and indirect patient care.
Qualifications
- NYS RN Licensure.
- Minimum five years post-licensure in nursing with progressive leadership responsibilities.
- Master's degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration or related field or current enrollment in a healthcare related Master's program.
- Minimum three years relevant nursing experience in the care of medicine patients.
- Minimum two years management/supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Nursing specialty.
- Clinical and/or leadership experience.
