About the role
The Nurse serves the health care needs of children presenting with crisis and behavioral health issues in a trauma-informed manner.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and clinicians to support treatment and medication management of clients
- Conduct nursing assessments and monitor client health status
- Meet with family and obtain medical information of child including medication, allergies, history of hospitalizations, etc.
- Provide education to families and caregivers regarding medications and health conditions
- Dispense prescribed controlled and legend drugs, medications and other controlled substances as required
- Maintain accurate medication records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications as necessary
- Coordinate with pharmacies to ensure timely and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Track and follow up on lab results, communicating findings to the clinical team and family
- Serve as liaison between families, providers and external medical partners
- Support crisis intervention and administer first aid care as needed to CCTC clients
- Facilitate acquisition and dissemination of required health records and reports
- Educate and advise clients and their parents/caregivers on pertinent and health-related issues through meetings and correspondence
- Attend weekly clinical team meetings
- Attend and participate in weekly team meetings and in inter-agency meetings, as appropriate
- Attend bi-weekly nurses’ meetings
- Attend in-service and training meetings as assigned and in accordance with state and CBH regulations
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- License to dispense prescribed controlled and legend drugs and other controlled substances required
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of Nursing care
- Minimum of one year’s experience in child or adolescent addictions or mental health nursing, or in a community health care setting
- At least one year’s experience with trauma-informed care in child behavioral health settings
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Bilingual preferred
Skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Proficient in handling office equipment (faxes, copiers, scanners)
- Working knowledge of ECR systems
