Responsibilities
The Nurse III House Supervisor performs highly complex nursing work and is responsible for the after-hours operation of campus-based nursing services. This position encompasses multiple responsibilities which include management of clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery, development of nursing personnel, ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional standards, and other hospital policies and procedures.
- Develops and ensures program specific staffing plans are met and initiates action to reassign staff to accomplish appropriate staffing at all times.
- Serves as a consultant, clinical and administrative expert to all staff after-hours.
- Advises and communicates about unusual incidents or significant events are conveyed to the Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD), Medical Officer of the Day (MOD), Chief Nurse Executive (CNE), Assistant Chief Nurse Executive (ACNE) and Nurse Manager, when applicable.
- Participates in development of nursing policy and decision-making as a member of the Nursing Clinical Operations Team.
- Serves in the capacity of a Lead Clinical RN as assigned, or as needed.
- Must understand that duties, location of work and shift patterns are subject to change, as determined by administration, to meet the needs of the hospital.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Nursing Program accredited by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners required.
- At least three (3) years of work experience as an RN in a recognized health agency, hospital, or health care facility.
- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Texas (or state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact) prior to hire.
- Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Skills
- Knowledge of state and federal laws for individuals with mental health issues rules, regulations, policy and procedures related to State Hospital.
- Knowledge of the laws and rules of the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Knowledge of Texas Nurse Practice Act, including the Texas Board of Nursing Rules and Regulations, and the role of nursing peer review in the provision of both professional nursing and vocational nursing.
- Skill and knowledge related to supervising employees.
- Skill in the care and treatment of patients and in the use of nursing treatment tools and equipment.
- Skill in analyzing problems, formulating and implementing plans of corrections, and to successfully lead change.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to communicate effectively to groups and individuals, achieve and maintain collaborative relationships, and train all levels of staff.

Pay
Salary Range: $7,532.75 - $8,886.16, Pay Frequency: Monthly
Schedule
Shift: Day, Additional Shift: Days (First); Evenings (Second); Nights (Third); Weekends, Telework: Not Eligible for Telework, Travel: Up to 5%
