Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Apply nursing theory and evidence-based standards;
- Conduct comprehensive assessments;
- Develop and evaluate care plans;
- Exercise independent clinical judgment;
- Document per legal and organizational requirements;
- Perform age-appropriate and pregnancy-related assessments per OPHNS protocols;
- Provide population-based services (immunizations, pregnancy care, school health);
- Deliver care in clinics, schools, homes, community sites, and emergency settings;
- Identify health risks and implement prevention strategies;
- Respond to outbreaks and emerging public health needs;
Working Conditions
- Work week may include days and hours outside of standard Monday through Friday business hours;
- Statewide travel, including overnight stays, is required to meet service delivery, training, and public health response needs;
- Work assignments and locations are determined by organizational priorities;
- Physical requirements may include lifting related to clinical and public health service delivery.

Knowledge And Abilities
- Knowledge Of professional nursing standards and scope of practice;
- Public health principles and population-based nursing care;
- Principles of maternal health assessment, normal and high-risk pregnancy indicators, and physiological changes across the perinatal period;
- Federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to public health nursing.

- Function independently and accountably as a professional nurse;
- Adapt to changing priorities, assignments, and service locations;
- Apply sound judgment and discretion within established policies and standards;
- Communicate effectively with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams;
- Perform and interpret non-invasive physical and physiological nursing assessments and escalate findings according to protocol;
- Place professional responsibility to the public above personal convenience.
