Program Details
The Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Externship program is an excellent opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting our exceptional nursing teams. This role allows students to strengthen their clinical skills, enhance patient care knowledge, and prepare for a successful transition into professional nursing practice. This is a developmental program for nursing students who want to develop multiple and varied clinical skills in a multiple nursing specialties.
Position Details
All Nurse Extern I employees begin their externship on a Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) unit, working closely with the nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Assisting nursing staff with daily patient care activities.
- Assisting patients with hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures.
- Supporting nurses with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Maintaining a clean and organized patient environment.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.
Work Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) twelve-hour shifts per month.
- Scheduling is based on departmental needs and individual availability.
